Naval War College Monterey Honors Top JPME Graduates

Naval War College (NWC) Monterey students earning academic honors during the third quarter of Academic Year 2018 were recognized during a brief ceremony in their honor near the NWC Program offices in Halligan Hall, July 31. Professor David Overton, Associate Chairman of the NWC Monterey program, presided over the ceremony for those in attendance.

“I want to thank you all for not only your interest in national security, but for your investment in it,” said Overton. “Your participation as demonstrated by your performance in the JPME program, while having so many relative perspectives across the services, helps elevate the quality of this program.”

Graduates earning “with Highest Distinction” honors by completing the JPME program in the top five percent of their class are Army Majs. Peter Cournia, and Christopher Telley; Navy Lt. Cmd. Andrew Mikesell, Navy Lts. Kevin McDermott, Christopher Phillips.
 
Graduates earning “with Distinction” honors by completing the JPME program in the top 15 percent of their class are Army Majs. Jameson Boscow, Andrew Sadoun, Blake Safko, David Schnaak, Eric Snyder, Army Capt. Shane Kohtz; Marine Maj. Justin Moeykens, Marine Capt. Adrian Felder; Navy Lt. Cmdrs. Elijah Ford, Walter Young, and Navy Lts. Rachel Althouse, Ryan Ferrao, Miguel Montalvo, and Timothy Whitney.
 
Through the NPS-NWC partnership, a total of 5,018 officers have earned their Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I certification since the program’s inception in September 1999.
