NAVSEA S&T Evaluation of Vector Sensors
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) lecture title “Evaluation of Vector Sensors for use as a Mobile Sonobuoy (Distro D)” with Dr. Mark Paulus, NUWC, Keyport Division, Division Principal Engineer 21E, Undersea Test Ranges & Fleet Readiness is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in SP-421 at 12:00 p.m.
Existing sonobuoys must be deployed by air assets and are prone to current and wind drift requiring additional sensor fields to be deployed. Furthermore, the DIFAR Sonobuoy elements are too heavy for small unmanned aerial vehicles to transport. This work seeks to evaluate the use of emerging vector sensor technology to augment sonobuoy fields. The new lightweight vector sensors allow the development of small UAVs for deployment and repositioning.

Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX) 20-2 is scheduled for Monday, March 2 - Friday, March 6, 2020 at Camp Roberts, CA.
The FX program exists to provide an opportunity for NPS faculty, students, private companies, and academia to demonstrate and evaluate new technologies related to the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense research in an operational field environment, and also to provide the operational community the opportunity to experiment with these technologies to better understand the capabilities that they may represent.
